Staff Handbook


General Adminstration

 

General Manager:

  • Oversees the station and delegates responsibilities to the different Board departments.
  • Maintains contact with college organizations and outside organizations.
  • Insures that WRBC is compliant with Federal licensing laws.

Treasurer

  • Creates a yearly budget for WRBC based on the needs of the organization.
  • Allocates set amounts of monies to the different departments as well as a set amount of money for emergencies.
  • Authorizes reimbursements for appropriate expenditures by board members.

 

 

Programming Department

 

Programming Director

  • Distribute applications for Fall, Winter and Short Term.
  • Works with Personnel Director to make semester schedules

Personnel Director

  • Schedules apprenticing sessions for new DJ's.
  • Maintains personnel files.
  • Works with Programming Director to make semester schedules.
  • In charge of issuing WRBC strikes and hearing appeals.

Concert / Event Director

  • Books semester concerts based on the funding available and the musical needs of the WRBC community and the community at large.
  • Responsible for all aspects of concert production and/or delegation of
    responsabilities to other board members and DJ's. These
    responsibilities include finding a venue, publicity, ticket sales, food
    and hotel for the band, etc.

Publicity Director

  • Initiates publicity campaigns on and off campus in efforts to increase listenership.
  • Advertises special events such as Trivia Night, Concerts, radio show applications, etc.
  • Maintains the WRBC bulletin board.
  • Chairs the trivia night comittee.
  • Works with Production Director to create special audio promos WRBC events.

Public Relations Director

  • Responsible for DJ of the week, having the article printed in the Bates
    Student and sent to the webmaster to be posted on the WRBC website.
  • Sends announce emails to Bates community about special events.
  • Makes sure that information about all WRBC events is sent electronically to the webmaster to be posted on the website.
  • Works closely with the publicity director.

Community Representative

  • Creates college break schedules and the summer schedule.
  • Maintains the connection between the WRBC Community DJ's and the board.

 

 

Music Department

 

Music Director

  • Oversees the Music Department (Head Student Archivist, Archivists).
  • Reviews and catalogs new music.
  • Communicates with the likes of CMJ.
  • Lots of other things.

Head Student Archivist

  • Assists the music director in reviewing and cataloging new music.
  • Oversees the other archivists and makes sure archivists sign out CD's and return them in a timely manner.
  • Orders necessary archiving supplies from the Bates bookstore.
  • Picks up WRBC mail from the Bates mailroom and distributes the mail to Music and Genre directors.

Archivists (2-3 people - Non-board position)

  • Review and catalogue new music in a timely manner.
  • Enter new music into the WRBC music database.

 

 

Technical Department

 

Tech Director

  • Oversees the Technical Department (Webmaster, Production Director).
  • Schedules monthly visits with the engineer and is to be present at each of those visits.
  • Documents equipment probvlems. If the Tech Director cannot fix it, the engineer shall be notified.
  • Makes recommendations for new equipment and upgrades. Technical
    upgrades that require funds greater than the money allocated must be
    approves by the Treasurer and General Manager. Once approved, the
    Technical Director is responsible for carrying out these plans.

Webmaster

  • Works closely with Public Relations Director to keep the content of the website current.
  • Maintains the quality of the webstream.
  • Makes necessary improvements to web design.

Production Director

  • Responsible for updating the audio computer in the on-air studio with new PSA's.
  • Creates new station ID's for the audio computer and/or RoboDJ.
  • Assists any DJ interested in making show promos for the audio computer and/or RoboDJ.
  • Works with Publicity director to make special promos for special events.
  • Works with Tech Director and/or Webmaster to maintain the quality of the audio computer and RoboDJ.
